Enrichment
Enrichment Opportunities
At Colehill First, enrichment is an important part of our curriculum. We aim to broaden horizons, build confidence and develop the interests, skills and experiences that help every child flourish.
Our enrichment offer reflects the five areas of the DfE Enrichment Framework: civic engagement; arts and culture; nature, outdoors and adventure; sport and physical activity; and wider life and future skills.
We have enrichment afternoons every Friday, allowing explicit teaching time in these areas.
Visits, Visitors and Experiences
Throughout the year, pupils take part in carefully planned visits, workshops, projects and performances that enrich and extend curriculum learning. Year 4 also takes part in a residential experience.
We make full use of our school grounds and local environment, alongside experiences further afield, to broaden pupils’ understanding of the world beyond their immediate community.
Clubs and Wider Opportunities
We provide a varied programme of clubs and sporting opportunities throughout the year. Our offer responds to pupils’ interests while also introducing them to new experiences and challenges.
We are committed to ensuring enrichment is inclusive and accessible to all, including pupils with SEND and those experiencing disadvantage. Pupil Premium funding is used where appropriate to reduce financial barriers to participation.
Pupil Voice and Leadership
Pupils play an active role in shaping school life and our enrichment offer. Through the School Council, Playground Leaders, pupil questionnaires and subject pupil voice, children share their views and help us identify future opportunities.
Pupils develop leadership and citizenship through activities including charity work, community projects and partnership events with other Initio Learning Trust schools and local schools; this includes WASP sporting events, an annual Maths Day at St Michael's Middle School and joint events such as supporting Wimborne Food Bank.
We regularly review participation and pupil feedback to ensure our enrichment offer continues to broaden experiences, develop confidence and resilience, strengthen belonging and help every child discover their interests and talents.
